So I thought I'd give blogging a go! It seems everyone is doing it and I'm hoping it'll give you an insight into the work I carry out and some of the promotional events I attend.
4th March 2016; Another month has gone in a flash and since the two adverts in Yorkshire Bride and Your Yorkshire Wedding Magazine, I'm delighted at the flood of enquiries which has hit my email and social media sites. I've met lots of new Brides-to-be since January, all of which I'm pleased to say, have resulted in bookings. The feedback received from the Brides is really positive with lots informing me they'd never even thought of the idea until they saw the adverts! As such, I've recently taken on two new recruits to my business. I'm thrilled they've expressed an interest in my venture and really look forward to working with them.
In other news..... On Wednesday evening, I received an email from The Wedding Guide informing me I'd been nominated in their North of England Wedding Awards for New Business of the Year!
I cannot tell you how excited I am that; 1. someone thought I deserved to be nominated and 2. that I get to attend the award ceremony regardless of the outcome in York this September! So a BIG thank you to the mystery nominator! If anyone would like to vote for me, you can do so below;
12th January 2016; HAPPY NEW YEAR!! 2016... how did that happen!? In the blink of an eye, Christmas has passed and it's already the new year. We had a fabulous break to the Canaries between Christmas and New Year for some much needed R&R (and playing on the watersides). And so it's 2016 which means all my brides and grooms to be, you're getting married this year!! Eeeeek, exciting times!!
One of my New Years Business Resolutions for 2016 was to get The Yorkshire Wedding Nanny 'out there' and so my first mission of 2016 has been to get some key advertising booked in. I've done wedding fairs, more wedding fairs and even more wedding fairs(!!) and while they've generated some great new contacts in the wedding industry and given me some potential dates for bookings, I really felt that Yorkshire needed to hear about the great service The Yorkshire Wedding Nanny offers after receiving such positive feedback about my venture. So after carefully sifting through various wedding magazines, I have decided to blow my marketing budget with two carefully selected suppliers... the first being Your Yorkshire Wedding Magazine where I will feature in their March / April issue and the second being Yorkshire Bride which is an annual magazine aimed at, you guessed it, Yorkshire Brides.
So I'm hoping these adverts will generate lots of new bookings and spread the word about my fabulous wedding childcare service because I have brand new 2016 diary which needs filling up!! Ex
31st October 2015; This weekend, I had the privilege of attending a wedding in my home town of Ilkley and to say I've had the best time would be an understatement! The gorgeous Bride and dashing Groom were a delight to work for and their children... well, an absolute credit to the both of them.
I worked really closely with the family to demise a plan for the day which would work for their children with them never having been left with anyone before and
they advised me, it might be a tough brief as the children are very attached to their parents. I quickly built up a relationship with the children, homing in on what they both loved (Peppa Pig!) and made sure I planned our time together to be a fun and exciting one. I grabbed anything Peppa-ish and armed with some back-up toys, headed off to The Kings Hall and Winter Gardens in Ilkley to set up! I met the Groom-to-be, his very handsome little man and their pretty little lady at the Church and instantly set to work, being silly and looking out for their Mummy arriving. The church service was beautiful and the children were incredible, sitting on our knees reading magazines and eating snacks! Back at the reception venue, the children busied themselves in our play area, exploring the different toys and resources and appeared to be having a fabulous time! Then the evening reception and the Bride and Groom's first dance.... a Scottish Fling! Well we could't just sit back and watch so we scooped up the children and got stuck into twirling and whirling around which the little lady just loved (see the above picture perfectly captured by the Wedding Photographer). I had an amazing time and it makes me realise just how lucky I am to be invited to spend time in the company of such lovely families and their little people in such beautiful environments. I totally and utterly love my job!! Ex
11th October 2015; I had the privilege of attending a tepee wedding fair today in Ilkley. BAR Events had contacted me to ask if I'd be interesting in joining their other hand-picked wedding suppliers to showcase my venture and it was on my doorstep, I decided to go for it. I'm so glad I did, not only to meet potential bride and grooms but because I met some lovely unique wedding vendors offering something special to bride and grooms.
The venue itself was incredible, I have never been inside a tepee before and it genuinely took my breath away! It's incredible how much times are changing as there was nothing like that when my hubby and I got married.
Here's some of the feedback received at the event;
"What a great idea you've come up with, you must love children!"
"I wasn't thinking of allowing children at our wedding but if you've still got the date available, I'd consider changing this"
13th September 2015; Today I've attended my first wedding exhibition! I was approached by The Kings Hall and Winter Garden's in Ilkley to see whether I'd be interested in showcasing my wedding childcare at a wedding fair at their beautiful venue! As the venue is literally on my doorstep, it seemed silly to turn it down so off I tootled;
I had already planned to attend a wedding fair in October and as a result, had started gathering different types of marketing material and building my wedding portfolio and it's just as well I did! The event was a HUGE success and I received such positive comments about my Wedding Nanny idea. Here's some of the things that were said;
"Your service is truly unique and something I've never heard of before!"
"What a fabulous idea, I only wish you were around when we got married!"
"I definitely need you at my wedding, what an amazing idea. My Mum will be thrilled she won't have to be responsible for all my cousins!"
I can't tell you how thrilled I was to receive such positive feedback and am delighted you think my idea is a good one because obviously, I think so!
1st August 2015; Today I've been working for the Dickinson Family at Norwood Bottom Farm. Commissioned by the Mother of the Bride, the Wedding was held in the family's garden estate in Norwood and the brief was to provide a nannying service for three children at the wedding, aged from 6 months to three years. The children instantly took to my bag of goodies, playing with farm puzzles, a busy-board and a ride-on-car, which was a firm favourite with the three year old boy! It was such a beautiful environment, I was delighted to be asked to share in the Dickinson's special day.
29th July 2015: I've been working on some new marketing material since having my logo designed and took to a DIY website to design and order my promotional items. I created my wedding flyers, which I'll use at Wedding Fairs, business cards to hand to potential and existing clients and car magnets which help transform my 7-seater. I went a bit personalised mad and ended up with a new client book and a personalised stamp too which I'm thrilled with!
25th July 2015: Today I carried my first Wedding Nannying duty! At the end of June, I was commissioned to work directly for the bride and groom to provide exclusive childcare for their 9-month old daughter. On the run up to the wedding, I made visits to the family to build a relationship with their daughter so that she would become familiar with me ahead of the big day and these visits really paid off! "E" looked absolutely gorgeous and was an absolute pleasure to look after, she was very happy and content in my company and due to the exclusivity of childcare, I was able to carryout her normal routine as per the brief, incorporating her meals and naps during her Mummy and Daddy's special day.
